Here are 16 top-rated wax kits to shop now. Because if there’s one thing you may not want to be the first to test out, it’s too-hot body wax. Now that you’re ready to shop, we scoured the web for the best home waxing kits reviewers are obsessed with. FYI: European Wax Center’s Aloe Complete Soothing Kit provides these calming benefits. If you really want to take your post-wax care an extra step, you can always follow up with a moisturizer or body lotion that's packed with soothing ingredients such as chamomile, green tea, or glycerin. (Pro tip: Wax a few days before vacation, not right before you head out.) “Also, remember your skin is freshly exfoliated from your wax-so don’t use any harsh soaps or body washes that contain too many oils or leave a film on your skin.” On top of that, given that any breaches in the skin barrier may take a little time to heal, you also shouldn’t swim in lakes or oceans, nor hang out in hot tubs or saunas, the day after your wax. “Hot showers can dehydrate skin,” European Wax Center’s field training manager Deidra Green tells Glamour. For starters, keep your clothes loose and your showers warm (not hot!) for the next 24 hours after body-hair removal. Then there’s the whole post-wax care that always results in smooth skin and fewer ingrown hairs. his method is much more suitable for removing unwanted hair from larger areas of the body, like the legs and arms. Meanwhile, soft wax adheres to the skin, which makes the process slightly more painful but provides fantastic exfoliation. This is because hard wax adheres to the hairs themselves, rather than the skin. “It tends to be less painful and better for smaller, more delicate areas of the body.” Think bikini line, upper lip, eyebrows. “Hard wax is more gentle on the skin, making it more suitable for sensitive skin,” says Shannon Hoskins, founder of Sarasota Smooth Wax Studio. So, the first order of business: Do you need hard or soft wax? The key difference between hard and soft wax is their consistency-hard wax is (as the name suggests) thicker and denser, while soft wax is thinner. Do you need to wax your legs? Arms? Face? Bikini area? All of the above? Once you nail this down, you can determine exactly what it is you should be looking for in your product.
Bright and early this morning we got together to make the switch to the new Drive for Desktop app and get everyone logged in. One of the main features of the new version is that it supports multiple Google accounts, which we thought would easily solve our problems. So we decided to modernize and all switch over to the new Drive for Desktop app. This recently became untenable, as we started to run out of storage space on our main drive. Another downside of Backup & Sync is that it stores all files locally. By using File Stream I was able to access files and directories that were shared by other lab members to me (but not the other way around). One downside of Backup & Sync was that it didn’t allow local access to shared directories (and unfortunately our institution does not allow us to create shared drives on Google Drive). File Stream did not allow multiple users to log into the same computer, so our solution was that 1 group member (me) used File Stream, while the other 2 group members used Backup & Sync. Google Drive until recently offered two different desktop apps: Backup & Sync and File Stream. Only 3 lab members utilize the Mac Pro, and until recently all of us had been able to access their Google Drive files locally on the Mac Pro, avoiding the need for cumbersome manual syncing through the browser. We also use Google Drive to continuously sync and share all of our files related to each lab member’s project. It’s been a great resource, giving us local control and immediate access to high-performance computing, while providing a familiar environment (Mac OS) where we can also test software that will be run by many Mac users. My lab uses a Mac Pro with 512GB RAM for most of our computationally intensive analyses. We then compared the best listeners to the average of all other people in the data set and identified the 20 items showing the largest significant difference. We identified those who were perceived as being the most effective listeners (the top 5%). As part of this program, their coaching skills were assessed by others in 360-degree assessments. We analyzed data describing the behavior of 3,492 participants in a development program designed to help managers become better coaches. What you’re saying is…” However, recent research that we conducted suggests that these behaviors fall far short of describing good listening skills. In fact, much management advice on listening suggests doing these very things – encouraging listeners to remain quiet, nod and “mm-hmm” encouragingly, and then repeat back to the talker something like, “So, let me make sure I understand. Being able to repeat what others have said, practically word-for-word.Letting others know you’re listening through facial expressions and verbal sounds (“Mmm-hmm”).In our experience, most people think good listening comes down to doing three things: People’s appraisal of their listening ability is much like their assessment of their driving skills, in that the great bulk of adults think they’re above average. (Contains 2 figures.Chances are you think you’re a good listener. Thus, the online discussion boards furnished an alternative for PSTs who may have been uncomfortable articulating their ideas during in-class discussions to still express the sense they were making of the mathematics. The course was structured such that the twenty-six female PSTs could earn participation points for engaging in in-class discussions or contributing to online discussions. The mathematical goal for the unit was to help the PSTs realize that the perimeter and area of different polygons are not always directly related. This article describes mathematical discourse that occurred over a two-week period during face-to-face class meetings and on an asynchronous, online discussion board (using Blackboard) and a teacher educator's efforts to listen and be responsive to preservice teachers' (PSTs) ideas about mathematics. Nevertheless, a teacher's ability to listen effectively and respond appropriately to students' thinking has been shown to play a critical role in effective mathematics instruction. Thus, engaging students in meaningful mathematical discourse can be rather daunting because it requires teachers to make careful pedagogical choices and spontaneous decisions in the midst of the instructional process and when students' ideas are considered, it can be difficult to predict and manage the direction of instruction. Teachers' follow-up moves, such as evaluating, rebroadcasting, acknowledging, or making a related statement or question, will shape "the nature and flow of classroom discussions and the cognitive opportunities afforded to students". However, merely getting students to talk in math class is not enough to assure that learning will occur once teachers get students to express their ideas, they must decide what to do with those ideas. Standards documents, such as the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and "Principles and Standards for School Mathematics", expect teachers to foster mathematics learning by engaging students in meaningful mathematical discourse to expose students to different ways of thinking about and solving problems and positively influence their problem-solving abilities, reasoning skills, and thinking processes. Where to start: bulking vs cutting?ĭeciding where to start depends on several factors, including your current body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, and short- and long-term goals. Bulking focuses on putting on weight and getting bigger whereas cutting focuses on getting lean and removing excess body fat to achieve better definition and tone. 149, 1-3, 67-69.While both bulking and cutting are strategies for better definition, tone, and muscle mass, the difference between bulking and cutting tends to come down to your current priorities. PDFelement’s text editor is exceptionally easy to use and makes for a smooth, stress-free work process. I am a huge fan of print design applications of any kind and PDFelement reminds me of a desktop publisher. I can’t even count how many times at work I’ve had to recreate a document from scratch because we couldn’t find the original file! The advanced text editor Not only is this feature very easy to use, but it’s also incredibly convenient. Even though I was compensated, I have done my best to remain as objective as possible. Hey everyone! PDFelement is a paid partner and I am reviewing their product in this article. (By skipping over Jesus’ extended comments on prayer in 6:7–15, the prescribed reading emphasizes the parallel format of the sections.) Each section addresses a practice of individual piety that was widely commended in the Judaism of Jesus’ time, and also part of the earliest Christians’ devotional repertoire. The first comprises three similar sections. The lectionary offers a passage best understood as two separate pieces. Although Jesus insists that certain behaviors are utterly vital for a life of faith, his greater point is that righteousness encompasses the focus and state of mind that motivates and sustains one’s actions. Still, righteousness that is part and parcel of the kingdom of heaven is not merely a list of actions to be performed. In contrast to a Pauline understanding of dikaiosunē, the Sermon describes “righteousness” mostly in moral terms. Our passage stands within a series of illustrations of this righteousness (note the context set by 5:20 6:1 6:33). The Sermon focuses on the righteousness ( dikaiosunē in Greek) that characterizes the kingdom of heaven. This theme makes these verses interesting for Ash Wednesday, when religious folk fill the pews and most seekers stay away. What Jesus addresses is the proper motivation behind religious practices. He grants that faithful people rightly do these things. In the first part of the passage (Matthew 6:1–6, 16–18), Jesus does not instruct people to begin giving, praying, and fasting. The audience that first heard the Sermon as a piece of the Gospel of Matthew clearly was a collection of religious folk who knew the importance of particular religious acts. But when we consider the overall scope of Matthew, it becomes unnecessary to force a choice on that issue. Scholars debate whether Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount addresses those who are already disciples or those who may yet enlist. In the text Jesus highlights the pitfalls that accompany religious behavior, warning that piety intended to garner notice from others is really no piety at all. A sermon on this Matthean passage might take up the topic of how people conduct a devotional life as a means of communing with God. Preachers and the liturgies they employ need to find ways of explaining the purpose of Ash Wednesday and Lent, for these observances are postbiblical inventions. Smudged foreheads are public expressions as Jesus knew, all public religious statements can bear witness to the gospel or ensnare us in games of spiritual self-congratulation. Jesus could have had a ball with it, given his penchant for directing special criticism toward religious people and their overt expressions of piety. Too bad no one observed Ash Wednesday during the first century. But it did a remarkable job of getting on with it and down the hill. It was still noisy and clunky compared to something equipped with full XTR or XX1, and the chain kept falling off. Then, I took it down the Pleney black downhill run in Morzine and got stuck behind a bunch of guys on top of the range downhill sleds. So the Bossnut started its testing life feeling clunky, noisy and heavy compared to what I was used to, but I had to keep reminding myself that this bike literally cost 10% of some of the bikes we get to ride, I have even tested a pair of brakes that cost the same amount as this bike, one day upon the Bossnut I calculated that the kit I was wearing cost more than the bike I was riding reality check. We report on how light, efficient, and smooth they ride, when the truth is that most riders purchase and ride the lower specced, heavier, clunkier models that can be in a different league of performance even though they are from the same range or family of bikes. Normally we are blessed/baited by the most expensive, bling bikes, carbon this and lightweight that, high precision, tuned and ergonomically perfected steeds that in reality, sell low numbers. It's a tough job ( sob sob) for us tech editors at Pinkbike to test a bike from the lower echelons of the bike world. The Bossnut is also very well specced for the money and comparable to bikes much higher in price so it could be treated as a new bike but the same capability and spec of used bike. The age old question, it’s up to the individual I suppose, but there is something nice about having a brand new bike with everything working at once, I’ve built many a bike when upgrading the frame with all sorts of horror stories. Why would a rider choose the Bossnut over a well maintained, used bike of a similar price? Honestly, I started this project with fairly new or returning riders in mind, but the first Bossnut quickly surpassed that so with the ‘V2’ I wanted to upgrade the frame with things like the increased reach, shorter stem, and increased tyre spacing so they could be ridden at UK enduros or the Alps etc. What type of rider is the Bossnut aimed at? Once I had this a test bike was built and ridden in the Peak (UK) by a few of us and we tested several different shock tunes and then the rest is history as they say. Then on the opposite of this, I looked at what was out at the price point I wanted to hit and not seeing geometry or spec that I felt would give riders the best ride or time on their bike. Really it came from riding bikes like these, reading reviews and seeing the direction of the market. How did you decide upon the geometry numbers for this bike? It looks like the Bossnut is lining itself up against some big sellers like the Specialized Stumpjumper, Trek Fuel and Giant Trance?
